Ambrogio Maestri is Jago in Otello at Teatro Regio in Turin
“Ambrogio Maestri as Jago can do miracles. I say that because despite his glorious corpulence he can fully and credibly recreate a devilishly mercurial character; one that Verdi had imagined as “tall and slim, with thin lips, small eyes near the nose just like a monkeys, a wide forehead”, “careless, nonchalant…sparkling”, and so on. But on stage anything may happen and Maestri, through his highly skilled singing, can give a character totally different shapes, and still make him so real”. Paolo Gallarati, La Stampa 15.10.2014
